What is Mindfulness
Mindfulness can be traced back to the Eastern philosophy and practices of Buddhism. Buddhists call mindfulness "Vipassana", the art of awareness in the present moment.
The concept of mindfulness in the West has recently become more mainstream as
people have discovered its practical application for managing thoughts and emotions. Mindfulness is both a technique and a practice. It helps us stay fully engaged and connected to life as it is actually happening, without being distracted by the past or worried about the future. Staying focused on the present helps reduce reactivity and
restores balance and order to our thinking.
Mindfulness Stress and Anxiety
Most people have come to understand that stress and anxiety are a normal part of everyday life. However, it is important to understand how we react to stress and how it manifests in our lives. The stress reaction is triggered by either internal or external stressors. We are all aware of the the many obvious external stressors that challenge us everyday. However, most people are not aware of the suffering that is caused by the internal stressors of self-generated negative thoughts. These automatic, negative thoughts supply a constant flow of negativity into or system. This negativity affects our biochemistry, thinking, judgement, perceptions and emotions. I will teach you a number of practical mindfulness techniques and strategies and help you cultivate a mindfulness practice, so you can successfully deal with and manage both the internal and external stressors of daily life.

What is Meditation
Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years. Although it is rooted in many of the world's religions, meditation is not a religious practice.
The Buddhists refer to meditation as "sitting still and doing nothing", or mental fasting. Just as physical fasting can purify the body, mental fasting can purify the mind. Meditation is easy to learn and can help reduce stress and quiet the mind by releasing distracting thoughts and disturbing emotions.
Your Busy Mind
Have you ever noticed how busy your mind is? The reality is, your mind is a thinking machine and it's running all the time.
We are so distracted by obligations, responsibilities, needs and desires that we barely notice what's happening around us.
The nature of this distracted and obsessive thinking can cause both physical and emotional suffering. Mindfulness and mediation is the antidote for your busy mind. Daily mindfulness is the practice of paying attention and staying focused on the present throughout your day. Mindfulness meditation is a formal practice that helps develop inner peace as well as emotional strength and awareness. Unlike other forms of meditation that help clear your mind, Mindfulness meditation helps you witness your thoughts and feelings without engagement or judgement. The goal is to improve your ability to focus and maintain concentration as well as, develop a level of comfort and familiarity with your thoughts, feelings and habits of your mind. This familiarity and awareness helps reduce reactivity and builds emotional stamina. "Emotional Stamina" helps you deal with and manage your thoughts, emotions and the stress of daily life.
